SPIN® USA

At the non-profit SPIN®USA National Training Institute, we train and certify managers, principals, teachers and staff who work in education and social services.

Our innovative, strengths-based interaction training method improves social service and learning outcomes for children, youth and families.

Since research demonstrates that motivation comes from feeling competent, our training builds on individual strengths to address challenges and create real and lasting improvement. We combine video analysis with strengths-based feedback to guide trainees to study and build upon the moments when they are most effective in their real work settings.

Our individualized training is designed to meet the unique needs of your staff, agency or institution. We offer both direct training and train-the-trainer programs in the following areas:
Family Support & Parent Training
Educational leadership & Teacher Training
Staff Training & Development
Management Coaching & Supervisory Training

All programs are grounded in one powerful methodology with two branches.

SPIN Video Home Training® (VHT) is the basis for our family support and parent training. VHT is the innovative method we teach to clinical and other social service staff working directly with families. It is a strengths-based practice methodology for direct service that improves family functioning and strengthens parenting skills in the home setting.

SPIN Video Interaction Guidance™ (VIG) is the basis for all other training programs. VIG is the strengths-based training methodology we use for analyzing and developing the skills and practices of individual principals and teachers, managers, supervisors, social workers and direct care staff.

Initially developed by a team of Dutch psychologists and social workers, the VHT and VIG method is now being used by more than 5000 practitioners worldwide. It has produced remarkable results in a broad range of fields such as pre-school, elementary and secondary education, child welfare (residential, foster care, family preservation, Team Decision Making, …), mental health, early intervention and home health care.
