|“Even a year and a half after SPIN training, I use it every day.”
-Susan L. Stubbs, President and CEO, ServiceNet, Inc., MA
For managers and supervisors, we offer two training options:
Both programs can be tailored as direct training or train-the-trainer formats. In the train-the-trainer format, SPIN trainers help build internal training capacity by training and certifying one or more staff to use the model with other staff in your organization, in addition to developing individual performance improvement.
We coach non-profit executives, managers and supervisors to improve their own leadership, supervisory and team building skills.
WHO COACHES EXECUTIVES AND MANAGERS?
SPIN trainers coach executives and managers. If your organization wishes to build internal training capacity, SPIN trainers can train executives and managers to become in-house trainers.
HOW SPIN®USA COACHES USE THE BASIC SPIN CYCLE WITH EXECUTIVES AND MANAGERS
Filming – Make a short 10 minute video of executive/manager with individuals or groups.
Analysis – Analyze and edit the video to target the leadership skills that are most effective in ensuring goal achievement during the individual or team coaching/collaborative review sessions. In the direct training, the analysis is done by the SPIN trainer. In the train-the-trainer program, the internal trainer is trained to do the analysis and provide the coaching during collaborative review sessions.
Collaborative Review – Review and discuss selected video with manager or executive. Develop effectiveness and understanding of your personal leadership strengths and capacities, point out the direction for change and growth and teach additional management skills in a one-on-one or team coaching session.
ADVANTAGES OF SPIN EXECUTIVE COACHING
- Learn a strengths-based approach to management.
- Supervise as a “coach” not a “judge”.
- Improve morale.
- Create a hopeful environment where staff and clients thrive.
- Experience skill building support related to your daily work.
The supervisory training program trains supervisors to use our strengths-based training model to improve their personal leadership, supervisory and team building skills. At the same time, the training is also a great staff development tool for the staff they supervise.
WHO COACHES SUPERVISORS?
SPIN national trainers provide coaching to supervisors in your organization.
If your organization wishes to build internal training capacity, SPIN trainers can train managers in your organization to become in-house trainers who can coach supervisors. SPIN does require that managers who will be coaching staff to be trained or have first-hand experience themselves with the SPIN Video Interactive Guidence (VIG) methodology.
HOW SPIN COACHES USE THE BASIC SPIN CYCLE WITH SUPERVISOR
Filming – Make a short 10 minute video of supervisors conducting individual supervision or staff meetings.
Analysis – Analyze and edit the video to target the supervisory skills that most effectively support and motivate staff in their day-to-day work with clients. The analysis gives the framework for the collaborative review in the individual coaching/training sessions with each supervisor. In the direct training the analysis is done by the SPIN trainer. In the train-the-trainer program, the internal trainer is trained to do the analysis and provide coaching during collaborative review sessions.
Collaborative Review – View selected video together with supervisors to highlight strengths, support effective supervision and teach supervision skills.
ADVANTAGES OF SPIN SUPERVISORY TRAINING

- Create collaborations of supervisor and staff to support program goals.
- Create high morale and reduce burnout and staff turnover.
- Builds client confidence and cooperation as staff skills improve.
- Build effective teams that meet and exceed program goals.
